Canoes

Canoes are excellent if you are traditional or just have an urge to be on the water but have only a limited amount of time or if you have more time and would like to do some fishing. Rafts are great, but there's no chance of a fish hook putting a hole in a canoe, if you know what we mean.

Weekend / Holiday Rate:

$42.00 / Canoe

Weekday:

$38.00 / Canoe

All prices include: Paddles, Cushions, Life-Jackets and Transportation.

We do transport people with their own equipment but our rental customers will get priority with service and transportation - please see Transport Your Equipment Tab.

Each canoe fits two adults unless you have an odd number of people or a small child.

Mixes well with:

Kayaks. If you're with Rafters or Tubers, expect to pull over and wait for them because you'll travel about twice as fast.

Rafts

Rafting is the way to go! Experience the peace of the river on a raft. They are very difficult to tip over so they're ideal for kids and those who'd like to forego chasing their stuff and paddles down the river. You can straddle the sides like a horse or lay with your back on one side with your feet propped on the other. For additional comfort, choose a larger raft.

If you're really special or just in the "Queen of Sheeba" mood, ask and we'll make sure you end up with only one paddle - so you can just "direct".

Transport Your Equipment

Transporting Your Equipment  / Shuttle / Car Spotting (v.2016)

We love that everyone is getting into owning kayaks and tubes of their own and we also love the environment so we like to help people get on the river bringing as few vehicles as possible, however, yes we do charge for people to ride the bus even if they have their own equipment (seriously cannot believe that people would think otherwise but you have no idea how often we get asked that!) So here are some different ways to do this:

TRANSPORT / SHUTTLE Saturdays and Sundays in July and August to Thornapple / HighRollway Boat Launch:

Traditional:
Everyone comes to the canoe rental in Newaygo, those that are renting pay $17 per person for tubes and $8 for cooler tubes and this includes the ride up to Thornapple.  Our tubes and cooler tubes are already at the launch so we just need to get those renting to the starting point. Those that have their own pay $16 (almost same price because we have to pay the state per person that we put through) and can use our air pumps to air up their stuff while we wait for bus with trailer to bring your stuff upriver already inflated.  We do not rent cooler tubes to those with their own, so plan accordingly.
Smidge different:
The people that are renting drop the people off at Thornapple with their own stuff, while they are getting their stuff inflated / together, the rest come to Newaygo, rent tubes (make sure you have reservation) get ride up and everyone ends in Newaygo and vehicles are there.
Super star:
Call Affordable Limo they charge per person and do all the work setting up tubing trip and driving and it is super simple :) 616.299.1812
Insanity but "Money Saver"
Drop one car at the ending point. Hide the keys on the vehicle or leave them at our building so you don't loose them, get them wet or accidently leave them in the vehicle at the starting point.  Happens ALL THE TIME and we do not go back up at the end of the day to the launch.  No, there is no Uber or taxi service in Newaygo either. Go up to the starting point, STAYING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAYS spend about an hour blowing up your tubes, float down to the ending point.  While people are letting air out of the tubes you go get the other vehicles with the one you left at ending point this morning.  Save money.  (All of this running around or you could just spend about $20 a person and actually enjoy the time on the river and let us do the running around!)
Not Quite As Insane But Still Money Saver
Arrange a 'car spot' with us prior to trip for $30 / vehicle. Go up to the starting point, STAYING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAYS spend about an hour blowing up your tubes, float down to the ending point. When you get there, your keys will be in the office with a note as to where it is parked.

TRANSPORT / SHUTTLE Weekdays to Thornapple / HighRollway Boat Launch:

CAR SPOTTING

Option A: $25
Come to our place in Newaygo, pick up our driver, they ride up with you and drive your vehicle back after dropping you and equipment at launch.

Option B: $30
Arrange prior to trip by letting us know:
1. Starting and Ending points of trip.
2. Plate number of vehicle.
3. Where keys are going to be and where you want them.
4. Time frame of the trip.
This sounds a bit more complicated than it is. But usually people who do this often will just text the information in and we will confirm completion by text and then you can get out and enjoy the river instead of dealing with the crowds at the office.
